The Adventure begins...

I have to admit, I felt a little defeated when i got home from Ontario after picking up my campervan. I have been so sick from the journey... and worried I had landed myself with an albatross... worried this might be too much for me!! Its been niggling away at me all this time, as I got her licensed and insured here in Nova Scotia.

Do you know I drove the whole way home to Nova Scotia from Stratford, Ontario... WITHOUT high beams!!! And I only figured out when I was halfway through Quebec how to turn the dashboard lights on!! I had to position the flashlight on my phone to see enough to drive at night. That, and there is an issue with the seat belts, which I will need to try and replace... Thinking about all the renovations ahead... I admit, I was feeling pretty discouraged and overwhelmed.

I had booked in for today to take it in for its safety check, and the guy on the phone practically scoffed at me for giving up my lovely Subaru for this old relic!! No, that's not true... He ACTUALLY scoffed at me. And then, he proceeded to do so again when I dropped it off this morning. He must have noticed my glare, because he then suggested that it wasn't any of his business. I politely agreed with him. [grr]

Anyways, I discovered that I actually DO have high beams!! Only its a foot button, not a part of my signal handle! doh! That will take some practice to learn how to use, but at least its there...

But the really incredible news is... There is not a single thing wrong with this baby!! They were flabbergasted!! Even my guy at the front desk! He changed his opinion completely when he saw it, and realized that it was immaculate!! Do you know the previous owner, in Ontario, who kept it indoors all through the winter months, STILL had it undercoated every year? I also learned that it is very easy to get parts for this particular year and make!! I have the number of a place that will deliver parts here in Halifax... Anything I need!

I knew it was the 'one' when I first saw it... It was that inner sense... But I had started to doubt myself. I have always 'known' my vehicles... Its an instinct I have always trusted, even for knowing so little about cars. Someone up there was looking out for me!

My Nana who passed away a couple of years ago has been very present this entire journey... So, in honour of her... May I present... The NanaVan!!!! She is a 1980 Ford Econoline Campervan!!  I will get more photos up soon of the interior, the before... and then, the after I am really excited again about all of this. The adventure has truly begun!
